Mirage Origins 

Mirage Productions emerged from the imagination of the curious mind of a then young Lennox “Becks” Gonsalves. It was officially introduced to Vincy Mas in the summer of 1986 and Becks was committed to his dream of creating a truly memorable experience. He commissioned the leading designers, hired seamstresses and enlisted the best craftsmen in the field who all worked together, diligently to create the highest quality costumes. He spared no expense in design and manufacturing and was meticulous about each costume which were all entirely hand crafted. As the saying goes, “the rest was history…”

In the years to follow, Mirage would become synonymous with uncompromising quality and a customer-centric philosophy that didn’t always see a profit, but ensured that their masqueraders always had a memorable experience. A true pioneer of Vincy Mas, Mirage was one of the first bands to introduce the “fully all-inclusive” experience, encompassing morning mimosas and a fully cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with of course a premium alcohol bar throughout the entire parade.

Over the three decades that Mirage has existed, the core values that founded this brand has remained strong. Becks has since stepped down as Band Leader to play a more behind the scenes role, while ushering in his daughter, “Becky” to carry the mantle of Mirage. A “carnival baby” herself, Rebecca “Becky” Gonsalves was indoctrinated into mas at the very tender age. Being her fathers’ daughter, she quickly fell in love with everything Carnival. Presently, Becky has revamped, rebranded and revitalized the band focusing on the minutiae of the carnival experience. Being even more meticulous than her father, Becky has refocused Mirage’s offerings to align one hundred percent with today’s revelers’ needs and expectations, starting from the very beginning with the registration process to the very end of the day on Carnival Tuesday.
